Domestic and family violence is a crime that takes many forms. Just because it happens in a home or by someone the victim knows; it is still a crime.

The NSW Police Force will respond to all reports of domestic violence.

Some examples of domestic violence crimes are:

  • Physical assault (punching, hitting, kicking, pushing, throwing things at a person)
  • Stalking
  • Unwanted sex or sexual acts
  • Breaking ADVOs - Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (sometimes called AVOs or restraining orders)
  • Making some types of threats
