Accessibility

The domestic violence website has been developed to ensure content is available to the widest possible audience, including readers using assistive technology or accessibility features.

Features included:

  • images and graphics carry ALT tags to assist visitors using screen readers and those with images turned off in their internet browsers;
  • users can increase or decrease the text size by using increase text size and decrease text size icons on the page;
  • a ‘skip to content’ link is placed on the top banner to assist users with adaptive technology to quickly navigate to the content;
  • pages have been designed to be device independent meaning users can navigate without the use of a mouse.

The domestic violence website complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA as mandated by the Australian Government for all government websites, extranet sites and intranet sites.
