Charter of victims rights

The New South Wales Charter of Victims Rights outlines how you should be treated and assisted if you are a victim of crime.  The Charter applies to all NSW government departments. It also applies to any non-government agencies and contractors that are funded by the NSW Government to provide services or support to victims. The Charter outlines 18 victim rights, including the right to:

  • be treated with courtesy, compassion and respect
  • be informed about, and given access to, available welfare, health, counselling and legal services
  • be informed about the investigation and prosecution of the offender
  • be protected from the offender.
